About Planetus
Planetus supports individuals building a life in Japan and organizations welcoming international talent.
We connect people with the right support, knowledge, and opportunities, helping bridge the practical and cultural gaps that can arise when living and working across borders.
Our Mission
Connecting People. Bridging Cultures. Creating Opportunities.
We believe that crossing borders should create new possibilities. Our mission is to make it easier for people and organizations to navigate cultural and practical differences, build meaningful connections, and create opportunities in Japan.
Our Story
Planetus was born from years of experience working across cultures and supporting people as they navigate new environments.
Through professional experience abroad, as well as studying and living in different countries and cultures, we have seen firsthand that moving across borders is not simply about completing procedures. The real challenge often begins after arrival: understanding a new culture, building relationships, adapting to a workplace, and creating a sense of belonging.
Planetus was created to bridge these gaps — connecting people, cultures, and opportunities, and helping both individuals and organizations build a stronger foundation for life and work in Japan.
Founder

Akari Iko (Yuki)
Akari has over a decade of experience in people management, global HR, sustainability, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), including more than 10 years with Fast Retailing, the parent company of UNIQLO.
Throughout her career, she has supported international employees relocating to Japan, worked on the recruitment and onboarding of international talent, and developed programs, policies, and workplace initiatives to help people from diverse backgrounds thrive in organizations.
Her international experience includes working in Bangladesh on the launch of a social business and supporting refugee-related initiatives in Nepal, as well as studying and living in different cultural environments across Asia. These experiences have shaped her understanding of both welcoming international talent and adapting to life across cultures.
She founded Planetus to bring these perspectives together — helping individuals navigate life and work in Japan while supporting organizations in creating inclusive workplaces where international talent can thrive.
